Sonic Frontiers - Definitive Edition on Switch 2: file size, cartridge and performance
Sonic Frontiers - Definitive Edition is SEGA's Switch 2 version of the open-zone Sonic game, released on June 23, 2026. It takes 26.5 GB of storage, and the physical edition is a Game-Key Card, so even boxed copies download the game before you can play. The big choice is the graphics setting: Graphics mode runs at 30 FPS (1080p on the TV), while Performance mode aims for 60 FPS at a lower resolution, dropping to 480p-720p in handheld. Nintendo Everything's tech analysis found Performance mode dips in intense boss fights and more often in the open world when undocked, and cutscenes stay at 30 FPS either way. If you play mostly docked, Performance mode is the smoother way to run it.
