New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe on Switch 2: free upgrade, file size and performance
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is a 2019 Switch 1 game that plays on Switch 2 through backwards compatibility. It is part of Nintendo's list of games with a free Switch 2 update, so there is no paid upgrade pack to buy. At 2.5 GB it is tiny by modern standards, which makes it a safe game to keep installed permanently even on a crowded console. The physical version is a regular Switch 1 cartridge with the full game on it, and it works in a Switch 2 slot. Up to 4 players can play together on one console, which is still one of the best reasons to own it: the 2D Mario format is easy for new players to pick up. Spanish is one of its 15 languages.
