Super Mario Odyssey on Switch 2: free upgrade, file size and performance
Super Mario Odyssey is the 2017 Switch 1 classic, and on Switch 2 it gets a free update rather than a paid upgrade pack. Digital Foundry measured 1800p on the TV and 1080p in handheld mode at 60 FPS after the update, a large jump in sharpness over the original's dynamic 900p. The Switch 1 cartridge holds the full game and works in a Switch 2, so if you already own it physically you do not need to buy anything. At 5.6 GB it is a small install by today's standards. Two players can share the game on one console, with the second player controlling Cappy, which makes it an easy co-op pick for kids.
