Small Switch 2 games: great picks under 5 GB for a full console

By Daniel del Moral Hernández · Updated October 7, 2026

Big games get the headlines, but plenty of excellent Switch 2 games take almost no space. If your console is full, or you want a few games to keep installed permanently, these are the ones to look at.

In the GameSpecsDB database in October 2026, 47 games need less than 5 GB, and the median Switch 2 game takes about 12.9 GB. You could install all of the games below and still use less space than a single sports game. See why sports games are so big.

Adventure and action

Game Size Physical format
Hollow Knight: Silksong 4.1 GB Full cartridge
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury 3.0 GB Switch 1 cartridge
MIO: Memories in Orbit 4.4 GB Full cartridge
The Rogue Prince of Persia 1.3 GB Game-Key Card
DELTARUNE 1.0 GB Digital only
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker 1.6 GB Switch 1 cartridge

Silksong is the standout: a large, demanding adventure in just over 4 GB, and on Switch 2 it even offers a 120 Hz mode on a compatible TV.

Cosy and strategy games

Game Size Physical format
Stardew Valley 2.2 GB Full cartridge
Factorio 2.6 GB Digital only
Octopath Traveler 3.1 GB Game-Key Card
The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero 3.2 GB Game-Key Card

These are games people play for hundreds of hours, and they take less space than a single update of some big games.

Party and multiplayer

Game Size Players on one console
Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics 2.5 GB Up to 4
Super Bomberman Collection 3.0 GB Up to 5
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe 2.5 GB Up to 4
ARMS 3.2 GB Up to 4
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S 3.4 GB Up to 4
MARVEL Cosmic Invasion 0.7 GB Up to 4
Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain 0.7 GB Up to 4

If you have friends over regularly, keeping two or three of these installed costs you less than 10 GB in total.

Retro collections

Game Size Physical format
The Disney Afternoon Collection 0.6 GB Full cartridge
R-Type Dimensions III 3.8 GB Full cartridge
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered 3.9 GB Full cartridge

For younger players

Bluey’s Happy Snaps (3.5 GB), PAW Patrol: Dino World (3.4 GB) and the Hasbro Games Junior Collection (1.0 GB) are all small. Note that they are Game-Key Cards, so the console needs an internet connection the first time.

Small size and physical format

A small game on a full cartridge uses almost no storage at all, because it runs from the card. On a Game-Key Card or digital, it still downloads, but the download is small and quick. Either way, these games are the easiest to keep installed. Check each game’s format on its page, or browse the full cartridge list.
